A Lowcountry Wedding to Remember at Dataw Island Club
For Maddy, holding her wedding at Dataw Island felt like coming home.
Maddy grew up visiting her grandparents here in the Lowcountry, and the beautiful scenery by the club's big, Spanish-moss draped tree encapsulated everything beautiful about the South Carolina coast.
So, while for many of her guests, this was a destination wedding and a chance to explore the beautiful town of Beaufort nearby, for one special guest - Maddy's grandmother - it really was close to home. Dubbed Maddy and Devon's "flower Gail", she served as an anchor for the wedding day - and of course, played an important role scattering petals down the aisle, as her granddaughter prepared to walk to meet her groom under the live oaks.
Maddy's grandmother wasn't the only important family member with a big role in the day; her brother also served as the couple's officiant! To honor Maddy's mother, the couple wove the color motif of pink and green - her favorite colors - throughout their wedding in subtle ways, to show her presence in spirit.
Maddy and Devon - your wedding was the perfect way to close out my wedding season! Thank you so much for trusting me with helping to tell your love story.
A special thank you to my assistant photographer for this wedding, Bri of Blessed and Becoming Photo! Some of her beautiful work appears below alongside mine.
