Hi, I'm Hannah.
let's get to know each otherHey y’all! I’m Hannah, owner of Hannah Lockaby Photo.
I fell in love with photography as a means of storytelling. Stories have always been my world - I spent my entire childhood buried in books, lost in fantasy worlds or historical tales.
As I grew up, photography became a way to connect with other people and tell their stories (as well as mine.)
Every time I pick up my camera, I’m grateful to have a part in recording stories that will be told for generations.
When I'm Not SHooting, You can find me...
...out for a long, slow run
...lost in a book (anything from memoir to fantasy)
...sipping my third cup of coffee for the day
...scouring the thrift store for vintage treasures
...exploring nature, especially with my family
About my work
PHILOSOPHY
I believe in the beauty of joyful laughter and happy tears, the in-between moments, capturing the details that are important to you, and never losing sight of the beautiful humans at the center of the wedding story.
VISUAL STYLE
I describe my style as soft, romantic, and classic. My visual style is informed by my film photography background -- I love a shallow depth of field (soft backgrounds), and classic edits that will stand the test of time, with accurate skin tones and consistent lighting (not erring on the side of too bright or too dark). A bright, sundrenched shot or a dark, moody, shadowy image are appropriate from time to time, especially depending on the mood of the day, but you won't find any heavily filtered, overly "trendy" edits that are going to look dated in just a few years.
APPROACH
I believe your wedding day shouldn't primarily feel like a photoshoot. Yes, the photos are important, and yes, we will spend a lot of time taking pictures, but as much as possible, I try to step back and let a moment unfold. Especially during important moments like the ceremony, I want to be as inconspicuous as possible, while still capturing every moment. Candid, real moments are what I live for! During your formal portraits, I will offer some gentle guidance or prompts to help you look comfortable, relaxed, and your best -- without the cheesy, stiff posing.
Good photography is visual storytelling, and weddings are my favorite stories - there’s so much richness to the narrative.
They’re about the people getting married, but they’re also about you as individuals, your families, your friends, and all the loved ones who got you to this day.
I'm here to capture your story so you can retell it for a lifetime.
